Mike Fennell -- The winner of last
year’s Maj. Donald Holleder Award for courage was one of the most successful
baseball coaches in Section V history. A former star athlete at Fairport High
School and Le Moyne College, Fennell was drafted in the 10th round by the New
York Yankees and spent several seasons in their farm system. Fennell waged an
inspirational 18-month battle with non-smoker’s lung cancer. He died last May.
