(February 19, 2003) — HENRIETTA — Shauntalae Johnson made two free throws in
the final minute to secure eighth-seeded Rush-Henrietta’s 49-46 victory
over No. 9 Gates Chili in a Class AA first round game on Tuesday.
Lindsay Dakin hit a 3-pointer in the final 1:30 to boost the Royal Comets
(7-14).
Johnson grabbed 15 rebounds and Kate Faas added five assists for
Rush-Henrietta.
Kendra Bryant scored six of her 20 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed 14
rebounds as the Spartans closed a nine-point deficit to two points.
Helen Stefanovic added 11 points for Gates Chili.
No. 7 Webster Schroeder 53, No. 10 Edison 32: Freshman guard Tiffany
Sullivan scored 15 points and made seven steals after being called up from the
junior varsity team three games ago for Schroeder.
Schauna Comfort added 17 points and 15 rebounds -- her 17th double-double of
the year -- for the Warriors (10-11).
Nia Cooper and Dominique Jones each scored 11 points for Edison, which
finishes 3-18.
