Fairport J.V. Boy's Basketball Lose to R.H.
in O.T. on a Buzzer-Beater
The Fairport J.V. boy's basketball team split this week, beating Gates on
Wednesday and losing to Rush Henrietta on Friday. In the Gates game, the J.V.
Raiders played a tough defensive first half, holding Gates to just 9 points to
lead at half time, 26 to 9. Fairport continued to outscore Gates in the second
half to go on to win 54 to 34. Leading a balanced scoring attack was Kelly
Condello with 11 points. Also scoring were Owen Reilly with 8, Mark Bruce with
8, Nick Pelusio with 8, Corey McAdam with 7, Pat Tiberio with 6, and Jeremy
Roberts with 4. Also playing and contributing to the win were Josh Michalko,
Mike Wayne, Adam Cole, Mark VanThof, and Bob Duell.
On Friday night, playing before a crowd of
more than 2000 fans, the J.V. Raiders hosted Rush Henrietta. In a fast paced
first quarter the teams ended up tied, 16 to 16. The Comets took the lead in
the second quarter to lead at the half, 31 to 24. Fairport battled back in the
second half to lead by 2 with 4 seconds to go. R.H. made two foul shots to put
the game into overtime. With a few seconds left, the Comets grabbed a rebound
off a missed foul shot and threw in a 3 pointer at the buzzer to win by two,
60 to 58. Leading all scorers was Condello with 18. Also scoring were Wayne
with 12, McAdam with 11, Pelusio with 11, Tiberio with 3 and Roberts with 3.
