(February 14, 2004) — PERINTON — Senior point guard Danielle Graunke scored 21 points to help Penfield defeat Fairport 61-39 and clinch its first Monroe County Division I title since 1992.

Penfield coach Mark Vogt also said the win clinches Penfield a top seed in the upcoming Section V Tournament.

“We made some goals for ourselves at the beginning of the season and we met two of them tonight,” said Vogt, whose team improved to 11-1 league, 14-3 overall.

Graunke, a six-year varsity player, has scored more than 1,400 points in her career.

Alyssa Nugent added 12 points and 16 rebounds for the Patriots, who scored 16 points off offensive rebounds.
