Fairport JV Boy’s Basketball start season with 3 wins


The Fairport JV boy’s basketball team opened up their season with 3 victories defeating Edison, Churchville, and Brockport. In their opener they traveled to Edison to take on the Inventors. The Raiders held Edison to 16 points the first half to take the lead 30 to 16. Fairport continued to play tight defense giving up 14 second half points to go on to win 59 to 30. Leading the scoring for Fairport was Kevin Borden with 23 points. Also scoring were Mark Bruce with 9, Nick Pelusio with 8, Greg Fitter with 7, Kyle Downey with 4, Tyler Launer with 4, Dan Moreno with 2, and Travis Condello with 2. Also playing and contributing to the win were Brian Gebhardt, Tyler Simon, Jeff Visco, and Chris Hare.

In their next game the Raiders traveled to Churchville to play the Saints. Good defense in the first half allowed the Raiders to be ahead 31 to 15 at the half. Churchville made a run in the third quarter outscoring Fairport 16 to 10 to close the gap to 10 points. Fairport outscored the Saints 20 to 5 in the final period to secure the victory 61 to 36. Leading the scoring for Fairport was Borden with 21 points. Also scoring were Pelusio with 9, Downey with 7, Bruce with 5, Launer with 4, Condello with 4, Hare with 3, and Moreno, Simon, Visco, and Fitter with 2.

In their first home game the Raiders hosted Brockport. The Raiders scored 43 first half points to take the lead 46 to 23. Fairport continued to increase their lead out scoring Brockport 33 to 24 and go on to win 76 to 47. Leading a balanced scoring attack was Borden with 15 points. Also scoring were Pelusio with 14, Launer with 10, Fitter with 8, Bruce with 7, Downey with 6, Hare with 5, Simon with 5, Visco with 3, Moreno with 2, and Condello with 1. Their next game is home Dec.17th against Hilton.
