Fairport edges R-H in triple OT

(January 8, 2005) — Mallory Kennedy hit a layup with 20 seconds left in the
third overtime, then grabbed a game-clinching rebound to boost Fairport past
Rush-Henrietta 56-55 in Monroe County basketball Friday.
With five seconds left, Lindsay Dakin missed a shot for R-H and Kennedy gained
control to run out the clock.
"Both teams were pressing, both teams shut each other down," said Fairport
first-year head coach Scott Forrest
Fairport led by 10 points but R-H rallied in the fourth. Fairport missed a
foul shot with five seconds left to go into overtime.
R-H turned up its pressure defense with five minutes left in regulation.
Kennedy had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the Red Raiders. Brittany
Wilson grabbed 11 rebounds and Claire Howe added 12 points and five assists
for Fairport (7-3).
Lindsay Dakin and Bria Jackson both scored 12 points for the Royal Comets
(8-2).
Shenise Johnson and Julie Marriott, the leading scorers on both teams, missed
the game because of illness.
