Fairport JV Boy’s Basketball Improve to
11-1
The Fairport JV boy’s basketball team won their last 4 games beating Penfield,
Churchville, Brockport, and Pittsford Sutherland. In the Penfield game the
Raiders took the first quarter lead, 11 to 7. Fairport made 7 of 8 foul shots
to help increase their lead at the half, 21 to 14. Fairport outscored Penfield
16 to 9 in the third quarter and went on to win 56 to 42. Leading a balanced
scoring attack with a season high was Kyle Downey with 16 points. Also scoring
were Mark Bruce with 15, Travis Condello with 6, Kevin Borden with 6, Greg
Fitter with 5, Chris Hare with 5, Tyler Launer with 2, and Dan Moreno with 1.
Also playing and contributing to the win were Tyler Simon, and Jeff Visco.
In the next game Fairport hosted Churchville.
With 6 different players scoring the Raiders jumped out to a 20 to 6 first
quarter lead. Kevin Borden had 7 of his game high 18 points in the second
quarter to help the Raiders go on to win 67 to 48. Also scoring were Downey
with 10, Fitter with 9, Launer with 8, Bruce with 6, Condello with 4, Nick
Pelusio with 4, Visco with 3, Hare with 3, and Simon with 2.
Last Wednesday Fairport traveled to Brockport
to take on the Blue Devils. Fairport took the early lead outscoring Brockport
18 to 10 in the first quarter. Brockport battled back outscoring the Raiders
12 to 7 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 3, 25 to 22. Fairport
tightened up the defense in the third quarter holding Brockport to 6 points
and increasing their lead to 40 to 28. Fairport went on to win 51 to 38.
Leading the scoring was Borden with 16 points. Also scoring were Bruce with
10, Pelusio with 9, Downey with 6, Launer with 5, Condello with 3, and Hare
with 2.
Playing back to back nights the Raiders
hosted Pittsford Sutherland on Thursday. Fairport jumped out to an early lead
outscoring the Knights 23 to 4 in the first quarter. The Raiders maintained
the lead for the rest of the game going on to win 67 to 53. Leading the
scoring was Nick Pelusio with a season high 25 points. Also scoring were
Borden with 10, Bruce with 9, Launer with 7, Condello with 6, Downey with 4,
Hare with 3, Simon with 2, and Moreno with 1.
