Boy’s Basketball improve to 8-2
The Fairport JV
Boy’s Basketball team played 3 games last week defeating Monroe, Rush
Henrietta, and Penfield. In the first game the raiders hosted Monroe in a
rematch of a previous game. Fairport fell behind early but outscored Monroe 18
to 12 in the second quarter to lead 29 to 26 at the half. Monroe took back the
lead in the third quarter but Fairport outscored them 20 to 9 in the final
quarter to go on to win 60 to 51. Leading the scoring for Fairport was Robby
Magee with 16 points. Also scoring were Brandon Stevens with 13, Zack Scribani
with 9, David Kozar with 8, Mike DeRusso with 5, John McDonnell with 4,
Brendan McCarthy with 2, Scott Deady with 2, and Marc Bertucci with 1.
Playing before a
sellout crowd on Wednesday the Raiders hosted Rush Henrietta. RH jumped out to
an early 11 to 2 lead but the Raiders fought back to lead 42 to 29 at the
half. Fairport continued to extend the lead in the second half to go on to win
74 to 58. Leading a balanced scoring attack was Stevens with 21 points. Also
scoring were DeRusso with 12, McCarthy with 11, Magee with 10, Deady with 9,
McDonnell with 5, Bertucci with 4, and Sam Townsend with 2.
In the third game
of the week Fairport hosted Penfield. Penfield lead at the end of the first
quarter 12 to 11. The Raiders held a slight edge at the half 23 to 20.
Fairport outscored Penfield 15 to 7 in the third quarter to go on to win 52 to
44. Leading the scoring for Fairport was DeRusso with 12 points. Also scoring
were McCarthy with 8, Stevens with 8, Magee with 7, Deady with 6, Kozar with
6, Scribani with 5.
