Fairport JV Boy’s Basketball Team Finish Season 12-6

The Fairport JV Boy’s basketball team won two of their last three games to finish in a three way tie for second place in their division. Last week the Raiders traveled to Rush Henrietta to take on the Comets. RH held the lead 19 to 13 after the first quarter. Fairport tightened up the defense holding the Comets to 7 points in the second quarter to lead 28 to 26 at the half. RH outscored Fairport 32 to 23 in the second half to go on to win 58 to 51. Leading the scoring for Fairport was David Kozar with 16 points. Also scoring were Scott Deady with 12, Marc Bertucci with 9, Sam Townsend with 6, Brandon Stevens with 6, and Brendan McCarthy with 2.

In their next game the Raiders played at Penfield. Mike DeRusso made 5 three pointers in the first half to help Fairport take the lead 33 to 25. Fairport went on to win 52 to 45. Leading the scoring with 21 points was DeRusso. Also scoring were Zack Scribani with 6, Deady with 6, Kozar with 6, Bertucci with 4, Robby Magee with 4, McCarthy with 2, Stevens with 2, and Townsend with 1.

In their final game of the season the Raiders hosted Churchville. This game was never close as the Raiders jumped out to a 30 to 11 lead at the half. The final score was 60 to 27. Leading a balanced scoring attack was John McDonnell with 11 points. Also scoring were Matt Falcon with 8, McCarthy with 7, DeRusso with 6, Bertucci with 6, Tim Lukenbill with 4, Deady with 4, Andy Petersen with 3, Scribani with 3, Kozar with 3, Stevens with 3, and Magee with 2. Also playing and contributing to the win were Larry Hall and SamTownsend.
