Fairport, Irondequoit, ER top seeds in
Section V

(February 17, 2006) — Three Monroe County teams that haven't won titles in
decades are among the top seeds in this year's Section V boys basketball
tournament.
Fairport (17-1) is the top-ranked team in Class AAA. The Red Raiders' last
championship was in 1975 under coach Jeff Fitch, father of current coach Scott
Fitch.
Irondequoit (15-3) is the top seed in Class AA. The Eagles haven't won a
Section V title in basketball since 1945.
And East Rochester (17-3) is the top seed in Class CCC. The Bombers have won
seven Section V boys championships but their last title was in 1963.
Other top seeds:
Class A: Geneva (18-2) returns to defend its title.
Class BB: Hornell (19-2)..
Class B: Sodus (17-1) returns to defend its title.
Class CC: Perry (17-3).
Class DD: C.G. Finney (17-3).
Class D: Whitesville (16-3).
The tournament begins Tuesday. The top seeds will be honored at a dinner
Saturday night.
