Shoniker scores 41 as Arcadia's girls beat
Fairport
Staff reports
(December 3, 2006) — Megan
Shoniker scored 41 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with two
minutes left, as Greece Arcadia rallied to defeat Fairport, 69-63,
Saturday in the championship game of the Greece Arcadia Tournament.
Shoniker scored 12 points during a 23-6 second-quarter as the Titans (2-0)
took a 33-20 halftime lead. Fairport rallied in the fourth to take a
two-point lead before Shoniker hit a 3-pointer as Arcadia went ahead,
65-63, with two minutes to go.
Shoniker then hit four free throws down the stretch to put the Red Raiders
away."Just being a competitor you
try to take over," said Shoniker, who is going to the University of Rhode
Island next year on a basketball scholarship. "I am really upset and
disappointed at myself when we fall behind, and I always remember the
shots I missed. Even now, I'm not totally happy with my performance ...
I'm never really satisfied ... but I'm happy we won." |
