Fairport JV Boy’s
Basketball Team Beats Gates
The Fairport JV
basketball team won 4 games in seven days last week defeating Wilson, SOTA,
Webster Schroeder and Gates. In a rematch of an earlier game the Raiders
hosted Wilson. Fairport outscored Wilson 27 to 20 in the first half. Fairport
increased their lead in the third quarter holding Wilson to 5 points. The
final score was 50 to 38. Leading the scoring for Fairport was Phil Mormon
with 24 points. Also scoring were Robby Magee with 9, James Hamill with 8,
Geoff Soja with 7, and Brian Dastin with 2.
In their next game
the Raiders traveled to SOTA. After a low scoring first half, Fairport managed
to pull away to go on to win 46 to 26. Leading a balanced scoring attack were
Mormon and Soja with 9 points each. Also scoring were Hamill with 5, Magee
with 5, Michael Glenn with 5, Bryce Hammerton with 3, Adam Lostumbo with 3,
Robbie Rath with 2, and Dastin with 2.
Fairport traveled
to Webster Schroeder for their next game. This game was close all the way with
the score tied at 24 going into the fourth quarter. Fairport outscored Webster
15 to 6 in the fourth quarter to take the win 39 to 30. Leading the scoring
for Fairport was Magee with 13 points. Also scoring were Mormon with 10,
Hamill with 7, Zach Tatro with 6, Glenn with 2, and Soja with 1.
In their last game
of the week, Fairport traveled to Gates. Fairport found themselves down by 3
going into the fourth quarter. The Raiders shot 12 for 14 from the foul line
and outscored Gates 24 to 11 in the fourth quarter to win 61 to 51. Leading
the scoring for Fairport was Magee with 17 points. Also scoring were Soja with
13, Glenn with 12, Dastin with 7, Hamill with 6, and Lostumbo with 6.
Fairport’s record is now 10 and 6 with 2 games remaining.
