R-H top seed in ‘AAA’ boys basketball

(February 16, 2007) — No matter what happens in tonight’s Monroe County finals, Rush-Henrietta has clinched the top seed in the Section V Class AAA boys basketball tournament.

Rush-Henrietta (17-2) and Fairport (16-3) will play for the third time this season in the Monroe County finals tonight at 8 at Rush-Henrietta. The game will not count for Section V seeding purposes, however.

Fairport is the No. 2 seed in Class AAA and the Red Raiders could meet R-H a fourth time in the Section V championship game on March 3. Fairport, however, will probably have to face dangerous East High (14-5) in the semifinals while Rush-Henrietta would play either Gates Chili (9-10) or Churchville-Chili (8-11).

Here are the top seeds for the other Section V boys basketball classifications:

Class AA: Brighton (17-2).

Class A: Aquinas (19-1).

Class BB: Charlotte (13-7).

Class B: Wellsville (16-4).

Class CCC: Letchworth (19-1).

Class CC: Lyons (16-3).

Class C:: Red Jacket (14-6).

Class DD: C.G. Finney (17-3).

Class D: Whitesville (18-1).
