Morgan Skiff went 4-for-4 from the free throw
line in the final 30 seconds to lift fifth-seeded Churchville-Chili. She
scored all of her 16 points in the second half.
“Morgan scored right away and cought fire
after that,” Churchville-Chili coach Ryan Raftery said.
Fairport swept the Saints during the regular season.
Skiff grabbed eight rebounds and Briona Jones
added 11 rebounds for the Saints.
The Saints will face top-seeded Rush-Henrietta 8 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts
Wesleyan.
“We trailed by one point going into the third
quarter the second time we played them this year at their place,” Raftery
said. “We’ll have to play a good game that night and not make any mistakes.”
The Saints are the last Monroe County team to
defeat the Royal Comets. C-C beat R-H in 2005, the same year the Saints had
the top-seed going into sectionals. Skiff and Brittany Williams both played in
that game.
