Tournament MVP Mike Coburn scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Mount Vernon to a 68-to-65 win over Bishop Maginn in the Class AA final at the New York State Boys High School Basketball Championships.

It was the second title in a row and third in the last four years for the Knights, who also got 29 points and 13 rebounds from Kevin Jones.

Shimeek Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Griffins. Talor Battle added 21 points and seven rebounds.

First-time finalist Bishop Maginn, from Section 2, reached the title game with a 68-to-63 win against Fairport Saturday.

Seven-time finalist Mount Vernon, out of Westchester County in Section 1, got to the championship with an 81-to-64 win over Copiague Saturday.
