Finney's Marchand state player of year again

(May 2, 2007) — Finney senior Andy Marchand is the New York State Sportswriters Association’s Class D Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Marchand, a 5-foot-8 senior guard who averaged 25 points a game, helped the Finney Falcons repeat as state champions.

Whitesville senior guard Dan Heisey in Class D and guard Will Cornett of Class C Campbell-Savona, were the only other players from Section V schools named to an all-state first team.

All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year Kyle Downey, a junior at Fairport, is a second-team selection in Class AA.
