If you do not have MS Word software, you may still view and print these documents with the utilities and products listed on this page. System Requirements for Using Word Viewer:
  • A personal computer with a 486 or higher processor

  • Microsoft Windows® 95 operating system or Microsoft Windows NT® Workstation operating system 3.51 or later

  • 4 MB of memory for Windows 95 (8 MB recommended)

  • 12 MB of memory for Windows NT Workstation

  • 7 MB of hard disk space (9 MB free for installation only)

  • VGA or higher-resolution video adapter

  • Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

StarOffice from Sun Microsystems

StarOffice software is an affordable alternative in office productivity suites that runs on multiple operating systems, including Solaris[tm] Operating Environment, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. The office suite has a simple, easy-to-use interface and contains full-featured applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics and database capabilities.

Macintosh Platform:

 

For some reason, Microsoft doesn't seem to offer a Word Document Viewer for the Macintosh but that shouldn't stop us! There are a number of quality products that offer Word document viewing.

 

AppleWorks

AppleWorks is a high-quality integrated software suite for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Offering word processing and spreadsheet capabilities, among many others, AppleWorks includes the ability to read and write MS Word and Excel files.

VINC

One product that's available in a trialware version is from Recosoft Corporation. It runs on the Mac platform and supports over 60 Macintosh and Windows word processing and graphics file types. The product is called VINC and though we've not tried it, if you're "Wordless on a Mac," you might want to give it a try...

Another utility, available also as a trialware version, is called icWord, a document viewer for MS Word and AppleWorks files. icExcel also supports viewing of MS Excel files.
