He was the sort of ball player
who made those around him better just by being on the team -- plain
and simple.
His enthusiasm and support of his team
and teammates, made him -- in the words of Boys' Varsity Head Coach
Jeff Fitch (1968-2001) -- the "consummate team player." His
positive attitude was abundantly evident in his "praise for his fellow
teammates and for their personal achievements."
On the court or off, Mike was happy to
do whatever he could to make the team better.
After graduation, Mike continued his
support of the program through endless hours spent planning alumni
games, refereeing at scrimmages, etc. |
Mike was a member of the Fairport
graduating class of
1977 and a varsity basketball player on the
1975-76 and
1976-77 teams.
In memory of Mike's unselfish dedication
to his team, and to the Fairport Basketball Program in general, the
Mike Breese Scholarship was established. It is presented
each year to a senior member of the boys' varsity basketball team who
best exemplifies Mike's positive and winning spirit.
